This weekend marks the 10th edition of Papier, a local art fair highlighting contemporary works on paper. Station 16 Gallery will be presenting artwork by Alan Ganev, Jef Aérosol, Laurence Vallières, Mr. Brainwash, Stikki Peaches, and Whatisadam all of whom have incorporated paper into their practice in varying manners, from wheat-pastes, collage, silkscreen printing, and sculptures made entirely out of cardboard.
Last night, February 11, Station 16 opened its doors past regular close to welcome the new exhibit, "J'aime MTL", which will be on display until March 1st 2016.
Our partners, Instagrafite, recently curated the first edition of O.bra, a street art festival in São Paulo, Brazil. The festival invited artists from across the globe and featured a diverse line-up of talent. Members of our team had the opportunity to attend O.bra and witness the creation of many incredible murals. Check out some of our favorite below!
Matt Feigin, President of K-Way North America and local Montrealer, took an interest in contemporary street art about two years ago when he first saw the work of Stikki Peaches. He contacted us at Station 16 to buy a piece, and his interest in contemporary street art has only grown since. He has become a small collector. He now owns pieces by Whatisadam, as well as a series by Peter Andrew & Derek Blais, purchased while at The Scope Art Fair in NYC. Matt actually sponsored the renowned Instagram street art curators Instagrafite to join us in New York to cover Scope and the week in NYC. That visit led to a series of devoted Instagram posts called the K-Way Culture walk. Check them out on Instagram with #KWayCulture.
Station 16 Gallery is excited return to the Big Apple this weekend to exhibit at SCOPE Art Show. As one of the largest contemporary art fairs, SCOPE engages with an increasingly international audience and attracts visitors worldwide. Known for its ability to forecast visual trends and emerging artists, SCOPE has a history of innovative curation and presentation. This year marks SCOPE's 15th anniversary of the art fair's New York exhibition, occurring simultaneously with The Amory Show. With 60 galleries from across the globe exhibiting at SCOPE, Station 16 will feature all local artists to showcase emerging talent in contemporary, Canadian art.
